How a $100 card becomes $130 of new business

Your regulars are your sales team.
They just don’t know it yet.

Your regulars sell it for you.

They know exactly who in their life would love a night at your place — a sister's birthday, a thank-you to a colleague, a Mother's Day present. They pick a card from your branded page in under a minute, and you've banked the money before they've put their phone down.

A new face shows up.

Recipients are often people who've never set foot in your venue. They book, they bring a guest, and on average they spend 20–30% above what the card was worth. You collected the card revenue weeks ago. Now you collect the dinner revenue too.

And the breakage problem isn't a problem.

Roughly four cards in ten never get redeemed at all. In any other business that's a customer-service crisis. In gift cards it's clean revenue — already in your account, no cost of goods, no labour. The industry calls it breakage. Your accountant calls it the best line item on the P&L.

What’s actually built

Everything you need.
Nothing you don’t.

Branded purchase page

Your colours, your logo, your wording at giftcards.eatapp.com.au/your-venue. The buyer picks an amount, writes a personal message, and pays. Looks like yours, not ours.

Email delivery, scheduled if you want

The recipient gets a designed delivery email the moment it sells — or queued for their birthday, anniversary, or whenever the buyer chooses. Personal message included.

Redeem at the till in seconds

Floor staff sign in at venue.eatapp.com.au, type the code, redeem the amount. Partial redemptions, balance lookup, voids — all there. No new POS, no integration drama.

A dashboard that tells the truth

Total sold, outstanding liability, active cards, recent redemptions. The numbers you'd want on a Monday morning, on one screen.

ABN on every receipt

Tax-compliant invoices go to the buyer with your ABN, not ours. Captured automatically when you verify with Stripe. Your bookkeeper will thank you.

From sign-up to first sale

Three steps. Live the same day.

01

Sign up for free.

Create your account in two quick fields — free, no Stripe wall, no sales call to sit through. Prefer a hand? Call 0405 250 201 and we'll set you up on the spot.

02

Connect your Stripe account.

Connect the Stripe account you already use, or create a new one — right from your dashboard. About five minutes to confirm your business details and ABN. We never touch your customers' card data; Stripe holds it all.

03

Start sharing your gift card link.

Put your link on your website, in your email signature, on your booking confirmations — or drop a "Buy a gift card" button straight onto your site. First sale usually lands the same day.

The bookkeeping bit

One screen. No fine print.

No setup fee. No monthly fee. No tiers, upgrades, or annual minimums.

Monthly fee

$0

No subscription. No minimums. No commitment.

Per card sold

3%

Just 3% to EatApp on each gift card you sell. No setup fee, no minimums — if you sell zero, you pay zero.

Who pays the 3%

Your call

Add the 3% to the buyer's total as a small service fee, or absorb it yourself for round-number pricing. Switch it anytime in your dashboard.

Example: a $100 card. Add the 3% and the buyer pays $103; absorb it yourself and they pay exactly $100. Either way, the money lands in your Stripe account on the standard payout schedule.

The questions everyone asks.

Where do the 20–30% uplift and 38% breakage numbers come from?

Both are well-established industry figures, reported across years of US, UK and AU retail research. Spend-uplift is the average amount recipients top up beyond the card value when they redeem. Breakage is the share of cards that never get redeemed — the exact figure varies year to year but consistently sits in the 30–45% band. Your numbers will differ; these are the averages the industry plans against.

Who holds the money between sale and redemption?

You do. Stripe Connect pays you direct on its standard schedule — usually 2–3 days after the sale. We never touch your customers' money. Outstanding card liability shows on your dashboard so you always know what's still out there.

What happens when a customer redeems?

Your floor staff sign in at venue.eatapp.com.au, type or scan the 8-character code, and confirm the redemption amount. Cards can be partially redeemed — the balance stays on the card until next time.

Is there a contract?

No. Stop selling any time. Cards already sold remain valid for the period printed on them (36 months from purchase by default, which is the Australian regulatory minimum).

What does it cost me?

Nothing monthly, no setup fee — just 3% to EatApp on each gift card you sell. You choose whether the buyer covers that 3% as a small service fee at checkout, or you absorb it for round-number pricing; switch it anytime in your dashboard. If you sell zero, you pay zero.

What about refunds?

Refund a sale and we refund our application fee with it — Stripe reverses everything cleanly. Partial-redemption refunds (where a customer wants their money back on a card they've already partly used) are handled case-by-case — give us a call.

Do I need to be an EatApp client to use this?

No. Gift cards works standalone. Existing EatApp clients get it included in their setup; new clients can run just this without taking the rest of the platform.

Can I customise the branding?

Yes. Logo, accent colour, intro copy, terms, email sender name — all editable from the admin. The purchase page and delivery email match your venue, not ours.

Put it on the menu.

One phone call and you’re set up the same day. We’ll walk you through Stripe verification on the spot — usually live by the next service. First sale typically that night.
